Monthly legal counsel for companies in Brazil

Ongoing Brazilian legal support for companies that need to make decisions, contract and prevent disputes without maintaining a complete in-house legal department.

In short

Monthly counsel operates as external legal support for management. Scope, contacts, channels and cadence are defined at the outset. Routine matters enter the agreed workflow; extraordinary projects are identified and quoted before any additional work begins.

What we handle

What may be included in the monthly legal routine.

  • Day-to-day contractsDrafting, review and negotiation of recurring agreements, amendments, notices and termination documents.
  • Preventive corporate workMinutes, amendments, resolutions and organisation of shareholder decisions within the agreed scope.
  • Preventive employment supportAdvice on hiring, policies, disciplinary measures, termination and employment documentation.
  • Trademarks and intangible assetsPortfolio guidance, licence agreements, deadline monitoring and referral of specific INPI measures.
  • Data protectionOngoing support with contracts, data-subject requests, internal policies and decisions affected by the LGPD.
  • Legal risk managementPrioritisation of pending matters, recorded recommendations and a consolidated view of decisions for management.
Working model

Predictability without turning the retainer into an unlimited package.

The retainer is designed around expected volume, complexity and the practice areas the company actually uses. The engagement defines what is included, the service channels and the response arrangements for each category of matter.

Recurring issues benefit from accumulated context: the team does not need to reintroduce the whole operation for every question. Out-of-scope projects — such as a corporate reorganisation, litigation or an extensive audit — are separated and submitted for approval.

Ongoing counsel provides external legal support for the company's routine. For a standalone corporate matter, see Corporate Law; for a specific agreement, see Commercial Contracts.

Frequently asked

Common questions.

Does monthly counsel operate as an outsourced legal department?

It can support the routine as external counsel, but the design depends on the company structure. The engagement defines responsibilities, contacts, included matters and what remains with the internal team or other providers.

Does the monthly fee include every legal matter?

No. The scope is set out in writing. Foreseeable recurring matters enter the retainer; extraordinary projects, litigation and unusually high-volume work are identified in advance and may receive a separate proposal.

Can we start with only one practice area?

Yes. Counsel may begin with contracts, preventive corporate work, employment, trademarks or data protection and be reviewed as the company’s actual demand becomes clear.

How are requests organised?

We define channels, contacts and minimum information for each request. This makes it possible to classify priority, record advice and track pending matters without relying on scattered conversations.

Can a company outside São Paulo retain the firm?

Yes. Meetings, document review and deliverables can be handled remotely. Matters requiring local action or counsel in another jurisdiction are assessed case by case.

How is the monthly fee calculated?

The fee reflects the practice areas, expected volume, complexity and cadence. The proposal describes scope and the circumstances for additional work before engagement.
